Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Sonic the Hedgehog, Alita: Battle Angel) is returning to score the upcoming (currently untitled) Godzilla vs. Kong sequel. The film will be directed by Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) and stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle who reprise their roles from the first movie. They are joined by new cast members Dan Stevens, Alex Ferns, Fala Chen and Rachel House. Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean series), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight) and Simon Barrett (The Guest) wrote the screenplay. Mary Parent (The Revenant, Pacific Rim), Alex Garcia (Enola Holmes), Eric Mcleod (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Austin Powers), Brian Rogers (Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) and Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Pacific Rim, Kong: Skull Island) are producing the project. Holkenborg’s music from last year’s first Godzilla vs. Kong movie is available from WaterTower Music. The sequel is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 15, 2024.
Holkenborg’s other upcoming projects include George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa (set to open in theaters on May 24, 2024). He also recently scored Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing, which is opening in theaters nationwide this weekend.
