Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) (Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Passing, Palo Alto, Mainstream) has composed the original score for the upcoming crime thriller Master Gardener. The film is written and directed by Paul Schrader (First Reformed, Taxi Driver, Affliction) and stars Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Quintessa Swindell and Esai Morales. The movie follows the gardener of an American estate who is forced to confront his dark past when the estate’s wealthy dowager forces him to take her wayward great-niece on as a new apprentice. David Gonzales is producing the project for Northern Lights, alongside Amanda Crittenden & Dale Roberts for KOJO Studios, Scott LaStaiti (Jane Got a Gun) & Luisa Law for Ottocento Films and Jamieson McClurg for Flickstar. Master Gardener will premiere next month at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.
Hynes’ other recent projects also include HBO Max’s Rap Sh!t, which just premiered last month with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
