Tindersticks are reuniting with director Claire Denis on the upcoming thriller Stars at Noon. The film starring Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Danny Ramirez, Nick Romano, Benny Safdie and John C. Reilly is set in 1984 during the Nicaraguan Revolution and follows a mysterious English businessman and a headstrong American journalist who strike up a passionate romance and become embroiled in a dangerous labyrinth of lies and conspiracies. Denis also co-wrote the screenplay with Léa Mysius (Paris, 13th District, Ismael’s Ghosts) and Andrew Livtackv based on the novel by Denis Johnson. Olivier Delbosc (The Next Three Days, 8 Women) is producing the RT Features and Curiosa Films production Tindersticks & the band’s frontman Stuart A. Staples have previously scored most of Denis’ features, including White Material, High Life, Bastards & Let the Sunshine. Stars at Noon will premiere this month at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and will be distributed in the U.S. by A24.
Tindersticks’ previous collaboration with Denis, Fire (aka Both Sides on the Blade), premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and has been picked up by IFC Films for a domestic release on .July 8, 2022.
