Earlier this month, Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, The Old Guard, Stowaway, Ammonite) has been recording his score for the upcoming German Netflix original film All Quiet on the Western Front. The movie is directed by Edward Berger and stars Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Edin Hasanovic, Daniel Brühl, Devid Striesow, Andreas Döhler, Adrian Grünewald and Sebastian Hülk. The drama is inspired by Erich Maria Remarque’s 1928 bestseller of the same name and follows three youngsters who voluntarily enlist in the German army and discover the soul-destroying horror of World War I as they arrive on the Western Front. Berger also co-wrote the screenplay with Ian Stokell and Lesley Paterson. Malte Grunert (A Most Wanted Man, The Aftermath) is producing the Amusement Park Film production with Daniel Dreifuss (No, Sergio, Guernica). Bertelmann has previously collaborated with Berger on the Showtime series Patrick Melrose and Your Honor. All Quiet on the Western Front will premiere in 2022 on Netflix.
As previously reported, Bertelmann’s other upcoming feature projects include Dev Patel’s directorial debut Monkey Man and Peter Flinth’s Netflix film Against the Ice.
