Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, A River Runs Through It, Little Fires Everywhere, The Accountant, Miracle) has been hired to score the upcoming action comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The film is directed by Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment) and stars Nicolas Cage, Pedro Pascal, Sharon Horgan, Ike Barinholtz, Neil Patrick Harris, Alessandra Mastronardi, Jacob Scipio, Lily Sheen and Tiffany Haddish. The movie centers on the fictionalized version of Cage who is creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin and must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan, when he is unexpectedly recruited by a CIA operative and forced to live up to his own legend. Gormican also co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten (Workaholics, Ghosted). Cage is producing the Saturn Films and Burr! production with Mike Nilon (Braven, Willy’s Wonderland), Kristin Burr (Cruella, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) and Kevin Turen (Euphoria, Waves). The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is set to be released in theaters on April 22, 2022 by Lionsgate.
Isham also has the Liam Neeson-starring thriller Blacklight (to be released in theaters on February 11, 2022) coming up. He also continues to score HBO’s The Nevers, which will return with new episodes next year.
