The 11th Guild of Music Supervisors Awards were given out at a virtual ceremony today. Tom MacDougall received the award in the Best Music Supervision in Motion Picture – Motion Picture Over 25M for his work on Pixar’s Soul. Dawn Sutter Madell won the prize in the Motion Picture Under 25M category for her music supervision on George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Susan Jacobs was honored in the Motion Picture Under 10M category for her music supervision on Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman and Dondrea Erauw & Michael Perlmutter took home the prize in the Motion Picture Under 5M category for their work on Sergio Navarretta’s The Cuban. Aminé Rame was the winner in the Best Music Supervision – Documentary category for her music supervision on Netflix’s Crip Camp.
In the Best Song Written and/or Recorded for a Film category, the winner was Hear My Voice from Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of The Chicago 7 (written by Celeste Waite & Daniel Pemberton, performed by Celeste, music supervision by Peter Afterman & Alison Litton). Among the other winners were Liza Richardson for her work on HBO’s Watchmen in the TV Drama category . She also won the award in the the Best Song Written and/or Recorded for Television category for The Way It Used to Be from HBO’s Watchmen (written by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross). Warren Fischer, Laura Webb & Lindsay Wolfington took home the prize in the Television Movie category for their music supervision on Netflix’s To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. There was a three-way tie in the in the Television Comedy or Musical category, with Manish Raval, Alison Rosenfeld & Tom Wolfe winning the award for Hulu’s High Fidelity, Kier Lehman receiving the prize for Season 4 of HBO’s Insecure and Robin Urdang winning for Season 3 of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. As announced prior to the event, Quincy Jones was honored with the Icon Award and Maureen Crowe received the Legacy Award.
