Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste have received their first SCL Award in the Outstanding Original Score in a Studio Film category for their music for Pixar’s Soul at tonight’s 2nd Annual Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards. The other composers nominated in the category were James Newton Howard (News of the World), Ludwig Göransson (Tenet), Terence Blanchard (Da 5 Bloods) and Reznor & Ross were also nominated for their score for Mank. In the Outstanding Original Song for Visual Media category, Savan Kotecha, Fat Max Gsus & Rickard Goransson were honored for their song Husavik from the Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Carlos Rafael Rivera won the prize in the Outstanding Original Score for a Television Production category his score for the Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit. In the Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film category, Lolita Ritmanis has received the award for her Oscar-shortlisted score for the Latvian drama Blizzard of Soul. Garry Schyman & Mikolai Stroinski were honored in the Interactive Media category for their music for the video game Metamorphis. As announced prior to the virtual awards presentation, composer Terence Blanchard and director Spike Lee received the 2021 Spirit of Collaboration Award.
