Passyunk Productions and Human Re Sources have released the original end credits song American Heartbreak from the HBO special Between the World and Me. The track is performed by Black Thought feat. Ledisi and co-written by themselves, James Poyser and Salaam Remi. Visit Apple Music/iTunes to stream/download the song. Between the World and Me directed by Kamilah Forbes is based on the 2018 adaptation and staging of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ 2015 book of the same title at the Apollo Theater and combines elements of the stage production, including readings from Coates’ book, which recounts the author’s experiences growing up in Baltimore’s inner city and his growing fear of daily violence against the Black community, and incorporates documentary footage from the actors’ home life, archival footage, and animation. The special premiered last week and is currently (until November 30) available to stream for free on HBO.com, HBOMax.com and On Demand.
