Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, Battlefield V, In a Better World) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Norwegian historical drama Betrayed (Den største forbrytelsen). The film is directed by Eirik Svensson (Harajuku, One Night in Oslo) and stars Jakob Oftebro, Silje Storstein, Eilif Hartwig, Carl Martin Eggesbø, and Michalis Koutsogiannakis. The movie tells the true story of the Jewish Braude family, an ordinary Norwegian working class family who had lived in safety in Oslo before being transported to Auschwitz during World War II. Lars Gudmestad (Jo Nesbø’s Headhunters, Buddy) and Harald Rosenløw-Eeg (The Wave, The King’s Choice) wrote the screenplay based on Marte Michelet’s book The Ultimate Crime. Martin Sundland (The Quake, Cold Prey), Catrin Gundersen & Therese Bøhn (Forgotten Christmas) are producing the project. Betrayed is set to be released this holiday season in Norwegian theaters. No word yet on a domestic release.
Söderqvist’s recent feature projects also include Dan Friedkin’s The Last Vermeer starring Guy Pearce, Claes Bang & Vicky Krieps. The movie premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters on November 20 by Sony Pictures Classics.
