Patrick Kirst is returning as the composer of the upcoming Netflix original film The Kissing Booth 2. The movie is directed by Vince Marcello and stars Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Meganne Young, Carson White, Taylor Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Molly Ringwald. The romantic comedy follows Elle Evans after she just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn and heads back to high school for her senior year. Marcello also co-wrote the screenplay with Jay Arnold based on characters from Beth Reekles’ 2012 young adult book. He is also producing the Komixx Entertainment production with Michele Weisler (Try Seventeen), Andrew Cole-Bulgin and Edward Glauser. Kirst (Inherit the Viper) has previously scored 2018’s original The Kissing Booth film and also collaborated with on Grace Stirs Up Success, Isabelle Dances Into the Spotlight, Liar, Liar, Vampire and Saige Paints the Sky. The Kissing Booth 2 is set to premiere on July 24, 2020 exclusively on Netflix.
Kirst has also recently scored the Swedish/Norwegian survival drama Breaking Surface directed by Joachim Hedén and starring Moa Gammel, Madeleine Martin and Trine Wiggen. The film follows two half sisters who go on a winter diving trip in Northern Norway, when they get trapped after a rockslide. The movie premiered overseas earlier this year. No word yet on a domestic release.
