Anne Nikitin (American Animals, Mrs. Wilson, Calibre, This Beautiful Fantastic) has been hired to score the upcoming Sky original series Little Birds. The show is written by author Sophia Al-Maria (The Girl Who Fell to Earth) based on Anais Nin’s collection of erotic short stories and stars Juno Temple, Yumna Marwan, Raphael Acloque, Hugh Skinner, Nina Sosanya, Rossy De Palma David Costabile, Amy Landecker and Matt Lauria. The 6-parter is set in Tangier in 1955, in one of the last outposts of colonial decadence, and follows troubled American debutante as she faces a culture shock. Stacie Passon (Concussion) is directing all episodes. Ruth McCance, Mark Herbert (Submarine, Four Lions) and Peter Carlton (The Last Panthers) are executive producing the project for Warp Films, alongside Kara Manley for Sky. Little Birds is set to premiere later this year on Sky Atlantic overseas.
As previously reported, Nikitin also has the British features Stardust, Four Kids and It and Sulphur and White, as well as the Netflix original series Fate: The Winx Saga coming up. She has also recently scored the limited series The Pale Horse, which currently airs Sunday nights on BBC One, as well as the Netflix original film Lost Girls, which premiered last month at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and will premiere on Netflix on March 13 and will also be released in select theaters on the same day.
