Max Richter (The Leftovers, Ad Astra, Waltz with Bashir, Mary Queen of Scots, Taboo, Hostiles) and Karim Sebastian Elias (Help, I Shrunk My Teacher, Einstein) have composed the original music for the upcoming documentary Saudi Runaway. The film is written and directed by Susanne Regina Meures (Raving Iran) and centers on Muna, a young, fearless woman from Saudi Arabia who is tired of being controlled by the state and patronized by her family. The movie follows Muna as she secretly documents every moment of her claustrophobic existence using her cell phones, often filming through her hijab. Christian Frei (War Photographers, The Giant Buddhas) is producing the project. Saudi Runaway will premiere later this week at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
