Composer Nathan Barr (The House with a Clock in Its Walls, The Americans, Hostel, Cabin Fever) is reuniting with writer/director Alan Ball on the upcoming drama Uncle Frank. The film is written and directed by Ball (American Beauty, Six Feet Under) and stars Paul Bettany, Sophia Lillis, Peter Macdissi, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer and Margo Martindale. The movie is set in 1973 and follows a 18-year-old and her uncle Frank as they take a road trip from Manhattan to Creekville, South Carolina for the family patriarch’s funeral and unexpectedly joined by Frank’s lover. Ball is also producing the project with Macdissi (Banshee, Here and Now), Michael Costigan (Out of the Furnace, Stoker), Jay Van Hoy (The Lighthouse, The Witch), Stephanie Meurer (Addicted to Fresno) and Bill Block (Halloween, Bad Moms). Barr has previouly collaborated with Ball on the HBO series True Blood. Uncle Frank will premiere next month at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
As previously reported, Barr also has the features The Turning and The Hunt, as well as the Netflix series Hollywood coming up.
