Cynthia Erivo has recorded an original song for the biographical drama Harriet. The song, entitled Stand Up, is co-written by Erivo who also stars in the movie’s title role & Joshuah Brian Campbell and is produced by Will Wells & Gabe Fox-Peck. The track will be featured in the film directed by Kasi Lemmons and also starring Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr. and Joe Alwyn. Terence Blanchard has composed the original score for the drama, which tells the story of abolitionist Harriet Tubman, who escaped slavery and risked her life to lead others to freedom through the network of safehouses known as the Underground Railroad. Harriet will premiere next week at the Toronto Film Festival and is set to be released on November 1, 2019 by Focus Features. Visit the official movie website for updates.
