Mark Mothersbaugh (The LEGO Movie, The Royal Tenenbaums, 21/22 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) is composing the original score for the new FX original series What We Do in the Shadows. The show is created by Jemaine Clement based on Taika Waititi’s 2014 feature of the same title and stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén and Mark Proksch. The comedy is based on the feature film of the same name from Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi and looks into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires who’ve “lived” together for hundreds of years. Clement & Waititi are also executive producing the project with Paul Simms (Atlanta, Divorce), Scott Rudin (The Social Network, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Garrett Basch (Life Itself) and Eli Bush (Lady Bird, Eighth Grade). Mothersbaugh has previously collaborated with Waititi on Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. What We Do in the Shadows will premiere tomorrow, March 27 on FX. Visit the official show website for updates.
Mothersbaugh also continues to score Netflix’s Disenchantment and is also expected to return as the composer of the second season of Bravo’s Dirty John.
