Scott Bomar has recently composed the original score for the upcoming biographical comedy drama Dolemite Is My Name. The film is directed by Craig Brewer (Footloose) and stars Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Tituss Burgess and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. The movie tells the life story of Rudy Ray Moore, a “larger than life” comedian, musician, singer, actor, and film producer in the 1970s who – when he couldn’t get work in Hollywood – simply created his own – including the most well-known Blaxploitation film of all time, Dolemite. Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, The People v. Larry Flynt) wrote the screenplay. Murphy is also producing the project with John Davis (Predator, I, Robot, Waterworld) and John Fox (Game Night, Timeless). Bomar has previously collaborated with Brewer on the features Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan. The composer’s other previous scoring credits include Anna Boden’s & Ryan Fleck’s Mississippi Grind and Giancarlo Esposito’s Gospel Hill. Dolemite Is My Name will premiere later this year on Netflix.
