Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, The Incredible Hulk, Love Actually, Romeo + Juliet) has been tapped to score the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid feature The One and Only Ivan. The film is directed by Thea Sharrock and stars Ariana Greenblatt, Bryan Cranston, Ramon Rodriguez, Indira Varma and Eleanor Matsuura in the live-action roles. The project’s voice cast includes Angelina Jolie, Sam Rockwell, Brooklynn Prince, Danny DeVito and Helen Mirren. The movie is based on Katherine Applegate’s 2011 book of the same title and centers on a silverback gorilla who lives in a cage in a shopping mall. When a baby elephant enters, he begins to rediscover his previous life and concocts a plan to take the baby elephant away from their abusive owner. Mike White (School of Rock, The Good Girl) wrote the screenplay. Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book, Christopher Robin) is sharing producing credit on the Walt Disney Pictures production with late producer Allison Shearmur (Cinderella, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Armstrong has previously collaborated with Sharrock on the director’s last feature, Me Before You. No release date has been announced yet for The One and Only Ivan.
Armstrong has also recently scored the British drama Mrs. Lowry and Son, which will premiere later this year.
Awesome. Craig doesn’t get enough work
