John Powell is reteaming with director Chris Sanders (The Croods, Lilo & Stitch) on the upcoming adventure drama Call of the Wild. The film stars Harrison Ford, Dan Stevens, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford, Cara Gee and Omar Sy. The movie is based on Jack London’s 1903 novel and tells the story of a sled dog that tries to survive the Alaskan wilderness as well as a series of abusive owners. Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) wrote the screenplay. Erwin Stoff (Edge of Tomorrow, Unbroken) is producing the project. Powell has previously collaborated with Sanders on the original 2010 How to Train Your Dragon movie, for which the composer received his first Academy Award nomination. Call of the Wild will be released on December 25, 2019 by 20th Century Fox.
Powell has also recently scored DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, which has already been released in several markets and will arrive in U.S. theaters on February 22.
John Powell’s original score is now available on the American iTunes Store.
