James Newton Howard has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure Jungle Cruise. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, The Shallows, Unknown) and stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti and Jack Whitehall. The movie based on the Disney theme park attraction of the same name follows a boat captain who takes his sister and her brother on a mission to find a tree believed to possess healing powers. Johnson is also producing the project with Dany Garcia (Snitch) & Hiram Garcia (Rampage, Skyscraper), as well as Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Journey to the Center of the Earth), John Davis (Predator, I, Robot) and John Fox (Game Night, The Blacklist). Jungle Cruise is set to be released on July 24, 2020 by Walt Disney Pictures.

As previously reported, Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Fugitive) is also set to return to score the third part in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series, which is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on November 20, 2020 and is expected to be pushed for a release in 2021.
