Robi Botos is composing the original score for the upcoming comedy The Weekend. The film is written and directed by Stella Meghie (Everything, Everything) and stars Sasheer Zamata, Tone Bell, DeWanda Wise, Kym Whitley and Y’Lan Noel. The movie centers on an acerbic comedian who becomes romantically entangled with her ex, his new girlfriend, and another guest during a weekend getaway. Meghie is also producing the project with Stephanie Allain (Dear White People, Hustle & Flow) & Mel Jones (Burning Sands) for Homegrown Pictures and Sarah Lazow & James Gibb for Marada Pictures. Botos has previously scored Meghie’s feature directorial effort, Jean of the Joneses. The Weekend will premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival.
