Premiering on Friday, July 6, is the Netflix original movie The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter directed by Jody Hill and starring Josh Brolin, Danny McBride, Montana Jordan and Scoot McNairy. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph Stephens (Observe and Report, Flower, Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals). The movie revolves around the star of hunting videos who strives to bond with his 12-year-old son on a wilderness trip but learns familial connections can’t be forced. The comedy premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Also premiering on Friday in the U.S. is the animated feature White Fang directed by Alexandre Espigares and featuring the voices of Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Eddie Spears and Paul Giamatti. Bruno Coulais (Coraline, The Chorus, The Crimson Rivers, Winged Migration) has composed the film’s original music. Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score when the movie opened in theaters overseas earlier this year.
