Benjamin Wallfisch has been hired to score the upcoming dystopian thriller The Darkest Minds. The film is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 2 & 3) and stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Mandy Moore, Golden Brooks, Skylan Brooks, Gwendoline Christie and Patrick Gibson. The movie based on Alexandra Bracken’s YA trilogy is set after a pandemic kills most of America’s children and teenagers and follows a teenage girl with telekinetic powers who escapes her camp and joins a group of teens on the run from the government. Chad Hodge (Wayward Pines) has written the screenplay. Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, Date Night) is producing the 21 Laps Entertainment production with Dan Levine (Arrival, Why Him?) and Dan Cohen (Stranger Things). The Darkest Minds is set to be released on August 3, 2018 by 20th Century Fox.
As previously reported, Wallfisch (It, Blade Runner 2049, Lights Out, A Cure for Wellness, Annabelle: Creation) also has the thriller Keepers starring Gerard Butler coming up.
