Nate Walcott and Mike Mogis are reteaming with director Josh Boone on the upcoming superhero horror movie The New Mutants. The film starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt and Alice Braga is based on the X-Men spin-off comic book series of the same title created by Chris Claremont & Bob McLeod and revolves around five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, who fight to escape their past sins and save themselves. Boone also wrote the screenplay with Knate Lee (Kidnap). Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sherlock Holmes, The Martian), Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight series, Marley & Me) and Lauren Shuler Donner (Logan, Deadpool) are producing the project. Walcott and Mogis have previously scored Boone’s first two features, Stuck in Love and The Fault in Our Stars. Walcott has also recently scored the romantic drama Midnight Sun directed by Scott Speer and starring Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Quinn Shepard, Ken Tremblett, Suleka Mathew and Rob Riggle. The movie, which follows a 17-year-old girl who is sheltered at home since childhood with a rare genetic condition, a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight, will be released on March 23 by Open Road Films.
