Randy Newman has recently composed the original music for Noah Baumbach’s comedy The Meyerowitz Stories. The film is written and directed by Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Greenberg) and stars Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller, Grace Van Patten, Elizabeth Marvel and Emma Thompson. The movie is based on Brian Selznick’s novel of the same title and revolves around two adult siblings contending with the influence of their aging father. Baumbach is also producing the project with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network), Lila Yacoub (While We’re Young, Frances Ha) and Eli Bush (Top Five). The Meyerowitz Stories will premiere this month at the Cannes Film Festival and will be released later this year on Netflix.
Newman’s other upcoming projects also include Pixar’s Cars 3, to be released this summer, and Toy Story 4, set for a release in 2019.
Why no soundtrack, though?
