Jeff Beal is currently scoring the upcoming drama Shock and Awe. The film is directed by Rob Reiner and stars Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, James Mardsen, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Biel, Richard Schiff, Luke Tennie, as well as Reiner himself. The movie tells the story of the only group of journalists who started questioning the lead-up to the war and began asking tough questions about Saddam Hussein’s alleged weapons of mass destruction. Joey Hartstone (LBJ) wrote the screenplay. Reiner is also producing the project with Matthew George (Wind River) and Michele Reiner. The director has previously collaborated with composer Marc Shaiman on most of his movies, including Misery, A Few Good Men and The Bucket List and Shock and Awe is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
Beal is also scoring the fifth season of Netflix’s House of Cards, which is scheduled to premiere on May 30. The composer also has scored the documentary An Inconvenient Sequel, which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will be released in theaters on July 28, 2017 by Paramount Pictures.
What, no Marc Shaiman this time? Isn´t (or wasn´t) he Reiner´s composer-of-choice? Nothing against Beal, but this would´ve been a good opportunity for Shaiman to come up with something memorable again…
I agree with you!
