Mark Mothersbaugh is set to compose the music for Marvel Studios’ upcoming sequel Thor: Ragnarok. The film is directed by Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderness, What We Do in the Shadows) and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and Mark Ruffalo. Stephany Folsom has written the screenplay and Kevin Feige (The Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) is producing the project. The previous two Thor movies were scored by Patrick Doyle and Brian Tyler. Thor: Ragnarok marks Mothersbaugh’s first project for Marvel. The film is currently shooting in Australia will be released nationwide on November 3, 2017 by Walt Disney Pictures. (The Wrap)
Mothersbaugh also continues to score Fox’s The Last Man on Earth, which will return for a third season this fall.
Well, I’ll be damned. A fascinating choice for this movie. Knock wood, he doesn’t get Burwelled.
That was certainly unexpected, though as of late he’s kind of gotten a certain bigger status, so it’s not entirely unsurprising, so I can’t give Hollywood points for originality.
But there is the Burwelled factor, which could become Mothersbaughed.

Fascinating choice. I feel like Giacchino is Tyler’s “Marvel” replacement. We’ll see if it ultimately goes to him. But, it’s still a VERY interesting choice… not quite sure what to make of it yet.
Kinda odd. Well, let´s hope he delivers…
