Cristobal Tapia de Veer has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming Channel 4 mini-series National Treasure. The drama is created by Jack Thorne (A Long Way Down, The Black Panthers) and stars Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, Andrea Riseborough. The 4-parter one half of a much-loved comedy double act, a national treasure despite Finchley’s career being on the wane. One day his world changes forever when he is accused of raping a woman in the 1970s.. George Ormond and George Faber (Shameless, Skins, The White Queen) are executive producing the project. Marc Munden (The Devil’s Whore, The Crimson Petal and the White) who previously collaborated with the composer on Utopia is directing all four episodes. National Treasure will premiere later this year on Channel 4. No word yet on a domestic premiere dates.
The composer is also expected to return the second season of AMC’s/Channel 4’s Humans and also has the thriller The Girl with All the Gifts coming up. The film is directed by Colm McCarthy (Outcast) and stars Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton, Paddy Considine and Sennia Nanua. The movie takes place in an underground bunker, where children are being examined by scientists in the hopes of finding a cure for a fungal spore that has infected the planet. Camille Gatin and Angus Lamont are producing the project. The thriller is set to be released in the UK this September. Saban Films is reportedly in talks to pick up domestic distribution rights.
