Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard are set to return to score the upcoming action thriller John Wick: Chapter Two. The film is helmed by Chad Stahelski who previously co-directed the original movie and stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Aurelio, John Leguizamo, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Tom Sadowski, Bridget Moynahan, Ruby Rose, Riccardo Scamarcio, Peter Stormare and Common. The sequel follows the title character as he is forced back out of retirement by a former associate and travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Derek Kolstad has written the screenplay and Basil Iwanyk (The Town, Sicario, Clash of the Titans) returns as the producer. Bates and Richard have previously co-scored the 2014 original film. John Wick: Chapter Two is set to premiere on February 10, 2017 by Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment.
Bates’ upcoming projects also include Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Greg McLean’s The Belko Experiment and Keep Watching, as well as new seasons of WGN America’s Salem and DirecTV’s Kingdom. Richard continues to score ABC’s Quantico, which has recently been renewed for a second season.
“Chapter” a new way to let sequels sound less redundant.
This is very welcome! I’ve always found Bate’s score to be rather forgettable, but i found John Wick to be a entertaining and catchy score.can’t wait to see what he and Joel J. Richard cook up next
