Star Fly LLC announced today that John Moreland is set to compose the music for the upcoming drama Boomtown. The film is directed by Sabyn Mayfield and stars Tyler Riggs, Boyd Holbrook, Rachel Brosnahan and Jocelin Donahue. The movie is set in Williston, North Dakota, home of the modern day Gold Rush and follows a man who leaves his family behind to pursue a grueling, yet highly coveted, job in a now booming oil industry. Mayfield also co-wrote the screenplay with David Newbert. Both are also producing the project. Moreland is best known as a folk singer/songwriter. Several of his songs were previously featured in FX’s Sons of Anarchy. Boomtown will marks his film scoring debut. The movie is scheduled to start shooting in November.
