Jeff Danna has joined his brother Mychael Danna to co-score Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming feature The Good Dinosaur. The film is directed by Peter Sohn and features the voices of Raymond Ochoa, Jack Bright, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Elliott, Anna Paquin, Marcus Scribner, A.J. Buckley and Steve Zahn. The movie is set in a world where dinosaurs have never become extinct and follows a young dinosaur who loses himself after falling into a river, sweeping him far away from his home. Denise Ream (Cars 2) is producing the project and John Lasseter serves as an executive producer. The composers’ music is being recorded this week in Los Angeles. Mychael Danna was announced as the film’s composer this past May. The Good Dinosaur is set to be released on November 25, 2015 by Walt Disney Pictures. I wonder if the duo jumped in together right off the bat and only the confirmation came late to us. Otherwise one would wonder why Jeff was brought in so late in the game – troubled production?
Jeff has been on for awhile. There was an interview back in June where they both said they were working on it.
John Lasseter only announced Mychael at the Cannes presentation, so Jeff must have joined later.
This is an excellent experiance. I think brothers Mychael and Jeff Danna are scoring the next Disney/Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur”. So, Mychael Danna, Atom Egoyan’s collaborator and Jeff Danna, Tim Blake Nelson’s collaborator are brothers.
This is awesome!
