Austin Wintory is reuniting with director Amin Matalqa on the upcoming action adventure The Rendezvous. The film stars Stana Katic, Raza Jaffrey, Alfonso Bassave, Ron Guttman, Glenn Fleshler, Darby Stanchfield, and Nadim Sawalha. The movie follows an unlikely pair who find themselves swept up in a deadly race to find a sacred Dead Sea Scroll hidden in the ancient city of Petra. Terrel Seltzer (One Fine Day, How I Got Into College) has written the screenplay. Dan Halsted (Garden State, Any Given Sunday, The Virgin Suicides) is producing the project with Tricia Gibbs. Wintory and Matalqa have previously collaborated on the 2008 Sundance World Cinema Audience Award-winning film Captain Abu Raed, as well as last year’s Strangely in Love. The Rendezvous is currently in post-production. No word yet on a premiere date.
Wintory who is best known for composing the Grammy Award-nominated score for the Journey video game also has the thriller Standoff coming up. The film is written and directed by Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left, Cell) and stars Thomas Jane and Laurence Fishburne. The movie follows a war veteran with a shotgun and one shell who must protect a child witness from an assassin. Eric Gozlan (Beautiful Boy) is producing the project for Goldrush Entertainment alongside Lee Clay (No Good Deed, 96 Minutes) for First Point Entertainment. Standoff is expected to be completed later this year.
