Hans Zimmer is currently recording his score for the upcoming indie drama Freeheld. The film is directed by Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Raising Victor Vargas) and stars Julianne Moore, Ellen Page, Steve Carell, Michael Shannon, Gabriel Luno and Luke Grimes. The movie follows New Jersey police officer Laurel Hester and her police detective girlfriend who both battle to secure Hester’s pension benefits after she’s diagnosed with a terminal illness. Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia, The Painted Veil) has written the screenplay. Michael Shamberg & Stacey Sher (Erin Brokovich, Django Unchained, Get Shorty) are producing the project with Page, Kelly Bush, James D. Stern (Looper, I’m Not There), Richard Fischoff, Duncan Montgomery, Jack Selby and Cynthia Wade. The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr who previously collaborated with Zimmer on such projects as Inception and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is featured as a soloist on the score. Freeheld is expected to premiere later this year.
Zimmer’s upcoming feature projects also include Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the animated features The Little Prince and Kung Fu Panda 3, as well as Ron Howard’s Inferno.
Well, this came out of nowhere…
And to think that after Interstellar people were complaining about the lack of films scored by Zimmer to be released until Batman V Superman…
Anyway, it will be more interesting to see what he will do on those indie projects than to just throw a lot of electronics and percussion to his superheroes films.
the gawd will bless us once again
Blah, enough of this guy already…
