Theodore Shapiro is set to reunite with Ben Stiller on the upcoming comedy sequel Zoolander 2. The film stars Stiller himself in the title role, Owen Wilson who returns as Hansel, Will Ferrell as Mugatu, Christine Taylor as Matilda, as well as new addition Penélope Cruz. Stiller has written the screenplay with Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2) and is also producing the project with Stuart Cornfeld (Dodgeball, Starsky & Hutch, The Fly). Shapiro has previously composed the music for Stiller’s previous two directorial efforts, Tropic Thunder and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. David Arnold (Independence Day, Casino Royale) has scored the 2001 original film. Zoolander 2 will be released on February 12, 2016 by Paramount Pictures.
As previously reported, Shapiro has also composed the music for Paul Feig’s Spy, which is set to be released on June 5 by 20th Century Fox, as well as the indie dramedy Infinitely Polar Bear, which will come out on June 19 by Sony Pictures Classics. The composer’s other upcoming projects also include Nancy Meyer’s The Intern, to be released on September 25 by Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as Jay Roach’s Trumbo, which is set to open on November 6 by Bleecker Street. Shapiro has also scored Karyn Kusama’s thriller The Invitation, which recently premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and was just picked up by Drafthouse Films for domestic distribution.
