Theodore Shapiro is reteaming with director Karyn Kusama on the upcoming thriller The Invitation. The movie stars Logan Marshall-Green, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Lindsay Burdge, John Carroll Lynch, Mike Doyle, Michelle Krusiec, Marieh Delfino and Jay Larson. The film follows a haunted man attending a dinner party who becomes gripped with paranoia that his ex-wife and her new husband are harboring an insidious agenda. Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi (Ride Along, Clash of the Titans, R.I.P.D.) have written the screenplay and are also producing the project with Martha Griffin (Aeon Flux). Shapiro and Kusama have previously collaborated on the features Girlfight and Jennifer’s Body. The Invitation is set to premiere next month at the SXSW Film Festival.
As previously reported, Shapiro’s upcoming projects also include Paul Feig’s Spy starring Melissa McCarthy, Dan Fogelman’s Danny Collins starring Al Pacino, Nancy Meyer’s The Intern starting Robert De Niro & Anne Hathaway and Jay Roach’s Trumbo starring Bryan Cranston.
