David Holmes is reuniting with Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall, The Experiment, The Invasion) on the upcoming German drama Elser (13 Minutes). The film starring Christian Friedel, Katharina Schüttler, Burghart Klaußner, David Zimmerschied and Johann von Bülow tells the story of Georg Elser, a German carpenter who had assembled a bomb and plotted an attack on Hitler in November 1939, shortly after the start of World War II. Oliver Schündler & Boris Ausserer of Lucky Bird are producing the project with Fred Breinersdorfer (Sophie School of Delphi. Holmes has previously co-scored Hirschbiegel’s last feature Diana starring Naomi Watts with Keefus Ciancia. The composer’s previous scoring credits include Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s series, Out of Sight, Haywire and Analyze That. Elser (13 Minutes) is set to premiere next month at the Berlin Film Festival and will be released this April in Germany. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
