It’s great to hear a brand new JNH score, but this one seems to be one of his boring electronic scores, like Michael Clayton or Parkland.

    • David says:

Parkland was fully orchestral. Michael Clayton had a string orchestra and was nominated for an Oscar. And people who saw Nightcrawler said that it was very good and well used in the movie. And even when JNH does fully orchestral scores, they bash it.

      • Bernhard H. Heidkamp says:

Nobody “bashes” him. He’s my favourite composer of all time, but I still think that Parkland was really boring and tracks like “Fireworks” and “We have Visitors” are unnecessary. 3 minuts of droning? We have RC’s army of Klausmin Örvarbalfes for scores like that. Howard is a master of thematic variations and he can do it with thriller scores as well.

And which orchestral score was bashed? Have you read the overwhelming praise of Maleficent?!

      • tiago says:

Right, Parkland and Michael Clayton had some acoustic instruments. But they’re still boring and dull, Oscar nominated or not.

I am a big fan of JNH, but I really prefer his more “traditional” and orchestral scores.

  2. Thirtyframesasecond says:

Fantastic film. But “original” soundtrack? Please check out the actual band called Nightcrawler.

Either the soundtrack to the film is a complete rip-off or the director was greatly inspired by or has some kind of connection to the artist known as Nightcrawler.

    • Greg says:

Man this guy should have done the score… I love JNH for his classic scores but this one felt like an old guy trying to be cool. I wish Reznor or Cliff Martinez scored this..
