Frederik Wiedmann is composing the music for the upcoming thriller Dying of the Light. The film is written and directed by Paul Schrader and stars Nicolas Cage, Anton Yelchin and Irene Jacob. The movie follows a former CIA agent embarking on a global manhunt for his long-standing nemesis, while simultaneously battling an aggressive form of Alzheimer’s Disease. Todd Williams, Scott Clayton and Gary Hirsch are producing the Over Under Media and Red Granite Pictures production. Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) and Steve Schwartz (The Road, The Counselor) are executive producing the project. Schrader has previously collaborated with such composers as Giorgio Moroder (American Gigolo, Cat People), Angelo Badalementi (Auto Focus, The Comfort of Strangers), Anne Dudley (The Walker) and Michael Brook (Affliction) on his previous directorial efforts. Dying of the Light is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2015 by Lionsgate.
Wiedmann whose previous scoring credits include Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Hostel: Part III, Son of Batman and Beware the Batman has also scored the horror thriller The Damned, which opens in theaters later this month. His other recent projects include the war drama Jarhead 2: Field of Fire, which is being released on Blu-ray and DVD today.
Does anybody know who was on this film before Wiedmann. Schrader has mentioned in interviews that there was a rejected score.
