The only wide release this weekend is the superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan. The film’s original music is composed by Hans Zimmer and The Magnificent Six, which includes Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger, Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro. Opening in limited release and on VOD is the comedy Walk of Shame directed by Steven Brill and starring Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden and Gillian Jacobs. The film’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack featuring the composer’s score. Opening in New York and Los Angeles before expanding to more cities in the next couple of weeks is the romantic period drama Belle directed by Amma Asante and starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson, Sarah Gadon, Tom Felton, Penelope Wilton, Miranda Richardson, Sam Reid and Matthew Goode. The film’s music is composed by Rachel Portman (The Cider House Rules, Emma, Mona Lisa Smile). Varese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on May 13. Also opening in limited release is the indie drama Decoding Annie Parker directed by Steven Bernstein and starring Helen Hunt, Samantha Morton, Rashida Jones, Aaron Paul, Alice Eve, Marley Shelton, Corey Stoll and Bradley Whitford. Steven Bramson (JAG, NCIS) has composed the film’s score. No word on a soundtrack album. Decoding Annie Parker follows two women whose parallel lives are devoted to finding a hereditary link to certain types of breast cancer. Another limited release this weekend is the indie coming-of-age drama Beneath the Harvest Sky written and directed by Aron Gaudet & Gita Pullapilly and starring Emory Cohen, Callan McAuliffe, Aiden Gillen, Zoe Levin and Carla Callo. The film’s original music is composed by Dustin Hamman. HUSH has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in select cities is the comedy Bad Johnson directed by Huck Botko and starring Cam Gigandet, Nick Thune and Jamie Chung. Didier Leplae and Joe Wong have composed the film’s original score. An EP featuring three songs from the film by Panoorama has been released digitally last month.
