Jeff Beal has signed on to score the upcoming CBS sci-fi drama Extant. The show is created by Mickey Fisher and stars Halle Berry as an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Goran Visnjic, Pierce Gagnon, Hiroyuki Sanada, Camryn Manheim, Grace Gummer and Michael O’Neill are co-starring. Steven Spielberg is executive producing the CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television production with Fisher, Greg Walker, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey & Darryl Frank (The Americans, Falling Skies, Under the Dome). Allen Coulter (The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire) who previously collaborated with Beal on House of Cards and HBO’s Rome has directed the pilot episode. Extant is set to premiere on July 9, 2014 on CBS. Beal will also return to score the third season of Netflix’s House of Cards. A soundtrack album for the second season of the show will be released next month.
