Guillaume Roussel has been tapped to score the upcoming martial arts action movie Outcast. The film marks the directorial debut of stunt coordinator and fight choreographer Nick Powell and stars Nicolas Cage, Hayden Christensen and Liu Yifei. The movie is set in the 12th Century and follows two European Crusaders who chose to wander off toward western China, where they become entangled in romance and antagonism with local royalty. James Dormer (Strike Back) has written the screenplay. Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil, Death Race) is producing the project with Alan Zhang, Karine Martin (The Moth Diaries), Leonard Glowinski, Ying Ye, Gary Hamilton (Bait), Chris Milburn (Getaway, An American Haunting), George Mizen and Tove Christensen (Shattered Glass). Outcast is currently scheduled to be be released this fall in the U.S. and China.
Roussel whose recent film scoring credits include McG’s 3 Days to Kill starring Kevin Costner also has composed the score for the French comedy Fastlife, which is set to premiere in French theaters this summer.
