William Ross is the composer of the upcoming sports family drama 50 to 1. The film is directed by Jim Wilson who is best known as an Academy Award-winning producer of such films as Dances with Wolves and The Bodyguard and whose previous directing credits include 1996’s Head Above Water. The movie starring Skeet Ulrich, Christian Kane, William Devane, Madelyn Deutch and Calvin Borel tells the true story of Kentucky Derby longshot Mine That Bird who won the Derby in 2009 and went on to finish second in the Preakness and third in the Belmont that year. Wilson co-wrote the script with Faith Conroy and is also producing the project. 50 to 1 is expected to be released later this year.
Ross (Ladder 49, My Dog Skip, The Tale of Desperaux) also has the historical drama To Have and to Hold coming up. The project marks the composer’s second collaboration with the director Ray Bengston following Alone Yet Not Alone. The movie starring Christopher Judge, Aiden Turner, Kelly Greyson, Rusty Joiner, Mark Dacascos and John Rhys-Davies is based on the early 20th century best-selling novel of the same name by Mary Johnston. James Richards has adapted the material for the screen and Barbara Divisek and Allen Taylor are producing the project. No word yet on a release date for the film.
