Alex Heffes has signed on to score the upcoming historical drama Emperor. The film is directed by Peter Webber (The Girl with the Pearl Earring) and stars Matthew Fox and Tommy Lee Jones, as well as Japanese actors Eriko Hatsune and Toshiyuki Nishida. The movie is set in post-World War II during the American occupation of Japan and is based on the real-life story of whether Emperor Hirohito be tried and hanged as a war criminal. Yoko Narahashi (The Last Samurai), Gary Foster (Daredevil), Russ Krasnoff (The Soloist) and Eugene Nomura are producing the Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment and United Performer’s Studio Production. Emperor is currently in post-production. No release date or domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.
As reported earlier this year, Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, State of Play) also has the Vietnam War-set drama Love and Honor (previously entitled AWOL) starring Liam Hemsworth, Teresa Palmer, Austin Stowell, Aimee Teegarden, Chris Howell and Max Adler coming up.
