Mike Patton has been tapped to write the music for the upcoming crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines. The movie is directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine) and stars Ryan Gosling as a motorcycle stunt rider who starts robbing banks to support his newborn son until he crosses paths with a determined young cop-turned politicisn, played by Bradley Cooper. Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, Dane DeHaan and Emory Cohen are co-starring. Sidney Kimmel (The Lincoln Lawyer, Lars and the Real Girl) is producing the drama with Alex Orlovsky, Lynette Howell and Jamie Patricof (Blue Valentine, Half Nelson). Patton who is best known as the lead singer of the metal rock band Faith No More has previously scored two features, The Solitude of Prime Numbers, and most notably Crank: High Voltage starring Jason Statham. The Place Beyond the Pines is expected to be released later this year and is rumored to premiere at one of the major film festivals.
