Alberto Iglesias is the recipient of the Hollywood Film Composer Award at this year’s Hollywood Film Festival for his scores for the John Le Carre film adaptation of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Tom Hardy and Pedro Almadovar’s The Skin I Live In starring Antonio Banderas. Iglesias will collect his statuette at the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton on Oct. 24. Iglesias is having one of his busiest years of his film scoring career to date with three movies being released in 2011 (The Monk being the third one). The composer has previously received two Academy Award nominations for The Constant Gardener and The Kite Runner and is expected to be one of the front runners in this season’s Oscar race for best original score. Previous Hollywood Film Composer Award honorees include Thomas Newman, Harry Gregson-Williams, Gustavo Santaolalla, Mark Isham, Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer.
