Badass Digest is reporting that Trent Reznor has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The film based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who most recently collaborated with composer Danny Elfman on 2008’s Wanted starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. Tim Burton is also involved in the project as a producer. The movie stars Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Anthony Mackie. The film’s story portrays the 16th president as an ax-throwing, highly trained vampire assassin. Apart from scoring the film, Reznor is also expected to appear as a vampire in the movie. 20th Century Fox will release Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in 3D on June 22, 2012.

The project marks Reznor’s third scoring assignment after just having won an Oscar for his scoring debut on The Social Network and his upcoming second collaboration with David Fincher on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
