According to Badass Digest, Alan Menken is involved in Joe Johnston’s upcoming comic book adaptation of Captain America: The First Avenger. The site doesn’t mention any specifics about Menken’s involvment, but it is expected that he would write a song or songs for the time when Captain America is in the USO. There have been many rumors going around about the composer of the score for the movie, but the last thing we’ve heard is that several composers have been approached to write the score, but there is still no official composer on board at this time. We will be posting an update as soon as we’ll find out more information. Joe Johnston previously worked with such composers as James Horner (The Rocketeer), Danny Elfman (The Wolfman), James Newton Howard (Hidalgo), Mark Isham (October Sky) and Don Davis (Jurassic Park III). Captain America: The First Avenger starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Cooper is scheduled to open on July 21, 2011.
