Two new movies opened wide earlier this week on Wednesday:
The Coen Brothers-directed western True Grit starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin was scored by Carter Burwell. Check out our news article announcing the soundtrack album on Nonesuch Records.
The comedy sequel Little Fockers directed by Paul Weitz and starring Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Barbara Streisand, Dustin Hoffman and Jessica Alba was scored by composer Stephen Trask. A soundtrack album will be released in January by Varese Sarabande Records as announced earlier this month.
Opening on Christmas Day is the fantasy family comedy Gulliver’s Travel starring Jack Black, Emily Blunt and Jason Segal. The movie is scored by Henry Jackman and a soundtrack has been released by Varese Sarabande Records as reported on this page last month.
Opening in limited release is the Shana Feste-directed drama Country Strong starring Gwyneth Paltrow and with an original score by Michael Brook. Check our previous news article on Brook’s involvement and the soundtrack release.
Finally, also opening in limited release is Sylvain Chomet’s animation The Illusionist which is being released this weekend by Sony Pictures Classics. The film’s music is composed by director Chomet and The Bitoons. A soundtrack album has been released digitally on December 14 by Milan Records with a physical CD version coming out on January 4.
