Film Music Reporter has learned that Trevor Rabin has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi action movie I Am Number Four. The movie is directed by D.J. Caruso, who previously worked with such composers as Thomas Newman (The Salton Sea), Philip Glass (Taking Lives), Christophe Beck (Two for the Money), Geoff Zanelli (Disturbia) and Brian Tyler (Eagle Eye). The movie stars Timothy Olyphant, Kevin Durand and Teresa Palmer and centers around the character of John, an extraordinary teen, masking his true identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. The movie is produced by Michael Bay, who previously worked with Trevor Rabin on such movies as Armageddon and Bad Boys 2. The Dreamworks movie will be the first film released by Walt Disney Pictures and is scheduled to open on February 18, 2011. To watch the trailer, check out the official movie webpage.

Trevor Rabin recently also has been finishing up the score for the action drama 5 Days of August (previousy entitled Georgia). The movie is directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger), who previously collaborated with Rabin on Deep Blue Sea, The Exorcist: The Beginning and 12 Rounds. The movie centers around the war between Russia and Georgia, and is focused on an American journalist, his cameraman, and a Georgian native who become caught in the crossfire. The movie stars Rupert Friend, Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia, Dean Cain and Heather Graham. No release date has been set for the movie, but it is expected to come out in 2011.
