Disney has revealed that the studio will submit the original song Wild Uncharted Waters from the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid for awards consideration. The song written by the film’s composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) and featuring lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, Moana, Encanto) is performed on screen by Jonah Hauer-King. It is one of three original songs from the movie, the others being For the First Time performed by Halle Bailey and The Scuttlebutt performed by Awkwafina & Daveed Diggs. Walt Disney Records has released the official soundtrack album featuring all the songs from the film in two different versions. The Little Mermaid directed by Rob Marshall is now available to purchase on VOD and will premiere on September 6 on Disney+ before coming out on Blu-ray and DVD on September 19.
