Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of) is the composer of the new Hulu original series The Act. The show is created by Nick Antosca & Michelle Dean based on an original Buzzfeed article by Dean and stars Patricia Arquette, Joey King, Chloë Sevigny, AnnaSophia Robb and Calum Worthy. The first season of the anthology series follows a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother and opens a Pandora’s box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder. Antosca (The Forest) & Dean are also executive producing the project with Greg Shephard and Britton Rizzio (American Ultra). Russo has previously collaborated with Antosca on the Syfy original series Channel Zero. The Act will premiere on March 20 exclusively on Hulu.
Russo also continues to score CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery (currently in its second season), FX’s Legion, which will return for its third and final season later this year, Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, which will return for its third season on March 29, Fox’s The Passage (co-scored with Jordan Gagne), which currently airs Monday nights, Starz’s Power, which will return for its sixth season this summer and FX’s Snowfall, which has also been renewed for a third season set to premiere in 2019. The composer is also composing the music for Noah Hawley’s feature directorial debut Lucy in the Sky (originally entitled Pale Blue Dot) and has recently scored the first season of the new Netflix series The Umbrella Academy.
